Kaia Gerber Strips Back

Cindy Crawford’s daughter never misses a step. Not that anyone expects it to. But Kaia Gerber just turned the volume up on her edgy side with a new shoot that has fans stopping mid-scroll.

It’s simple. Almost too simple.

For Re/Done’s latest campaign, titled “The Kaia Edit: Expanded,” the American Horror Story actor traded complexity for raw impact. The photo dropped July 15. By then, the internet had already reacted.

“The Kaia Edit: Expanded.”

That’s all the brand needed to say. The image does the heavy lifting. Gerber wears denim. Just jeans. And a pair of Converse.

Wait. Not on her feet.

She uses the high-tops to cover herself. Instead of footwear, the sneakers serve as the only modesty in a topless frame. It’s striking. It’s unexpected. It’s Re/Done playing with perception, turning a commodity into a prop.

Gerber knows how to hold the lens. Whether it’s avant-garde fashion or bright lingerie, she commands it. But this? This is about texture and contrast. The ruggedness of denim and rubber against bare skin.

It raises an old question, really. Is it about the clothing or the model?

She talks about this tension sometimes. In an interview with PS, Gerber broke down the legacy she grew up around. People assume Cindy Crawford was all surface. They’re wrong. Or at least, that’s Kaia’s take.

“She is smart, kind, and funny,” Kaia told them. “Her advice was always less is less is more.”

Beauty isn’t just on the inside, though. That’s a cliché she admits is overused. What stands out is the confidence. The way her mother carried herself. Kaia admires that grit more than the face in the magazine spread.

Growing up with iconic photos everywhere must shape how you see your own reflection. Kaia seems to accept it, but she doesn’t replicate it. She twists it.

She takes the Converse. She moves them from her feet to her chest. And let’s see where we land next.
